We took our 2021 ar 210 out today and I was on able to top out at 20 mph. We had 3 adults, 2 kids, full tank of gas. I have had the boat at 35 mph previously. Would the passengers all in the back of the boat and no weight in the bow cause that?

There was no cavitation and the rpms were getting up above 7,000 but I'm just at a loss for why it would be 15mph less than usual.

Thanks in advance!

Even if you had people in the rear seats, if you were able to get the boat to plane, you shouldn’t lose that much speed.

What altitude were you at? What’s top speed with only one person?

@LakeErieJB129 Something is wrong somewhere. I have the same boat and on LSC last weekend we could hit 40 mph in the high humidity with 4 teenagers, 2 adults, Full Tank, and I have extra batteries and a trolling motor. With all the passengers in the back it should go just a bit faster. My RPM's were 7700 and 7400

Check your pumps for debris and weeds.

@buckbuck But a top speed of 20 mph is drastic and his boat is fairly new. Unless it is making oil and it filled way up and the air filters are saturated. So checking the oil and the air filters would be good as well.

The least amount of people I've had on it is 2 adults, so not sure top speed with 1 and that was 35 mph. We are in Lake Erie so altitude shouldn't matter, I wouldn't think. It's only now hitting the 10 hour mark and haven't had trouble with it so far and no service has been performed yet.

I will check the clean out ports now

Check your oil level after you warm it up for a few minutes, if out of the water you should do this on the hose. Also check your air filters see if they are saturated. 35mph is low with 2 adults. Should be able to hit 43+ mph. Also check to see if your jets are aligned by putting a straight edge across them.

Let me know the exact RPM's max out on your engines at WOT. Should be circa 7500 or so.

Also open the engine bay and make sure when you push both throttles all the way that the Actuators on the the left and right side of the engine compartment are traveling all the way to the stops.

Has it been sitting in the water? Any growth on the hull? We lost 10 mph of top speed on our SX210 after a few months of sitting in a wet slip and a bunch of algae/plant life growing on the hull bottom. Got all the speed back after cleaning with hull cleaner. Probably not your issue but thought I'd throw it out there.

It is wet slipped and I was just saying that I wanted to pull it out of the water to clean it because it has been in for just about 2 months now.

The port side only gets to about 6,700 or so and starboard side gets to 7,000. I was just researching how to calibrate the cables because they are not synced up.

Check your oil and air filter. Oil should be just below half way. You are missing circa 500 rpm's per engine minimum. Your engines will not run at the same RPM's at WOT, Port will be lower by a couple few hundred RPM's.+
