Magma rod holder mod

I purchased a Magma ChefsMate, and the adjustable rod holder with the plan of putting it in a table leg on the swim platform. Well, it was too small. Had a conversation with @ThatJeepGuy because his setup was what I had planned. He used gorilla tape make his work. I was gonna do that myself, but thought of something different.

I bought a bicycle inner tube, and cut it into sections of about 1 1/4". I've got 14 pieces on top and bottom. Worked great!

@TheGreekTitan Nice job, good solution. I use the same mount, it works great in the 2" s.s. tubing I use for a grill leg on my swim platform.

That's a creative solution...looks like massive heat shrink tubing.

Gotta say, it worked perfectly.

Cooked sausages with onions and peppers, and cheeseburgers. My friend commented that it was "Epic". Not sure I'd go that far, but it was pretty damn awesome.

Even had a guy float over, and tell me he wants to be just like me. Ha! Then we had a short conversation about the grill and my setup.

Love it!!!!

Very nice @TheGreekTitan I think I'm going to have to do the same my mount I had from my 2011 doesn't fit my 2017 properly either so I'm going to switch to you same set up.

@robert843 - since you have a newer boat (with the larger table leg) try out these part numbers. Depending on what size grill you have.

Newport/Chef'sMate sized grill:
SBT-NPGRL-MT-14

Trailmate sized grill:
SBT-TMGRL-MT-14

These are Yamaha branded parts that fit onto the table leg just like the table does. Look under the grill and you'll see what I mean.
