I have a 2020 Yamaha 212x. Every time I zoom in/out, the screen goes black then maps will pop back up one block at a time. I’m guessing there is no touchscreen zooming since it will not work. Only way I can zoom is using the actual zoom icons. According to the dealer, Yamaha states this is normal for the model year. Wondering if anyone else had or has this specific issue.

:Welcome:
The MFD screen is not very powerful for the Maps feature - it runs the rest of the system fine, but I think Maps was added without bumping up the processor. I don't recall it being that slow, but it was sluggish with slow 0.5hz screen updates and no "heads-up" orientation. I never used the the zoom in/out really, maybe that's why. :D The newer models have a different MFD and it has more processing power. @suke (who I think came up with this idea), myself, and several others have opted to install a dedicated chartplotter/fishfinder for this sluggish reason. This is how a 7" model looks if you install it beside the Connext which is also a 7" display...it almost looks stock:

LOL! Yup for better or worse I was the trailblazer on that one. Love how it turned out! I use it all the time, not nearly the way I planned to use it....yet.

Thanks for the info. The set up looks great. I think I’m gonna follow that plan. I wanted to get a fish finder anyway, and plus, I can fill that black void where the phone mount is.

That's what I did. Seemed kind of wonky, and never used it anyways. So took it off.

I used my phone holder a lot the first year as I had a Navionics subscription for the app. But after installing the chartplotter...no need for it. Go figure.
:D
I'm still pondering using the holder behind and above the throttles...it's the twisting and reaching to put the holder in place that has held me back since most of the time it's on the seat beside me when floating, and in the cubby when cruising...hmm...

I hear ya. I think I used it once and do the same with it when floating and cruising. My wife or kids have their phones out and connected to BT so mine becomes obsolete while on the water

Last time we went out on the boat I forgot my phone all together. LOL!

Also, my 2020 212x stbd engine was throwing a check engine and temperature light. I checked and saw the pisser not pissing so cruised home on port motor (why I prefer 2 engines). Started flushing the stbd engine at home and still not pissing. How do I check for a possible clog and where can I access the cooling line to push weed eater line thru?

Any blockages I have had have been at the pissers. Mud dobber wasps were the culprit. I used large diameter trimmer string .105"° min. The larger diameter will work too. Never tried smaller diameter, it is what my weed wacker uses. Feed it in thru the "pilot (pisser) thru hull on the outside. That is probably where the plug is. I could see that mine had mud in it and when I pulled out the trimmer string, I could see the wasp larvae stuck to it. The rest flushed out of the line while running motor on hose.

A garden hose won't always provide enough pressure and flow for the pissers because some of the water ends up going out through the pump. You should try clamping off the line coming out of the pump to force all of the water to go into the engine and then the pissers should have water coming out if there are no blockages.

I tried that with my trimmer line. However, I have thinner line so I will try thicker line. I wasn’t sure if I would need to feed all the way thru into the engine bay side of the pisser line or blow air thru it.
