Hmmmm, interesting. I haven't been to Soldier in a few years. The last I heard, Soldier Creek was pumping their sewage into the lake.

Yea that was real bad. We haven't been there in several years either. They quit maintaining the place. Looks like they are totally redoing the whole place. New modern lodging. New break water and of course new sewer plant.

Awesome. I am glad you posted this. I look forward to checking it out!

I suppose you and V weathered all the storms.

We were there in February/March looking at yachts with a broker and the place looked like it needed to be bulldozed. The guy that we met with was in the process of moving his operations to Soldier from Eisenhower. He's the one that's listed in the boats for sale link, Mark Calahan. He's a good guy and easy to deal with and talk to. He didn't have a boat that we liked so we didn't buy from him.

That is too bad. Hopefully the new owners will get it back up and going nicely.

Honestly, I used to really like the place.

  • These are some concept drawings.

Wow.....I hope they can pull that off.

We will see. Still a lot longer drive to the islands than Buncombe. West beach is close though.

That is true Dan, it is a longer drive to the islands. I always enjoyed the ride though. But, if the weather wasn't cooperating, it would be a different story.

We got caught in a storm once in the middle, really rough. waves washing over the bow.

It took us about 20 min without pushing it too hard.

Dang. Texoma waves can kick up quick.
