Hello!

I'm located in NC and came to learn more about Yamaha Jet Boats. I'm considering a used 21ft as my first boat. I'll be doing research, asking dumb questions, and listening to advice. I'm looking forward to having a new toy!

Newb saying hi to a newb.
:Welcome:

Make sure to push all the buttons and take for a water test. I'm sure your grin will give it away.

I'm in the process of buying a 190. Still keeping my fingers crossed

A water test is a normal request? I mean, getting it out and in the water takes time and effort. But it's within reason, right?

Where are u in nc? There are a lot of us around nc. There are several boats on the forum for sale as well. If you are still in the fence maybe you can met up with a member close to u and get a ride on a jet boat if you have never been on one. (Of if someone else needs convincing i.e. wife, girl friend, both)!

I don't know if it is normal or not, but i just bought my first boat 2 weeks ago, and made it a "condition" prior to signing papers that i do a sea trial (this is after i inspected the boat, agreed on price, etc..). PO was very understanding. during our test, as soon as we hit the throttle, alarms started going off. turns out a hose had came loose and exhaust wasn't being cooled. owner knew what to do and fixed it quickly, havent had an issue since. but if i had bought without the test and this happened to me on my first time out, i would have probably soiled myself and not known what to do. i also walked away from a seemingly great deal because owner didn't want to take the boat out. just like any other vehicle, i would never buy a used car or motorcycle whithout driving it first... Best of luck with your search!!!!!

I appreciate that! I'm in South Durham and pretty central to both Falls and Jordan Lake. I tend to be more Jeep, Harley, and mountains. My girl is all about beaches, boats, and water sports. So when she said to me 3 weeks ago... we should get a boat... that's about all it took for me to want another toy. :)

Water test is absolutely a normal thing the guy I bought my boat from insisted on me driving it. Oh yeah and welcome lots of great people on here and so much information good luck with the purchase and when you get your boat we love pics.

Congrats. Yes, a water test is absolutely normal. (Personally) I wouldn't buy a boat without it. Also, an inspection isn't out of the norm either (you would pay for that, usually a couple hundred bucks). Oh, and...

Thanks. If the timing works a water test next weekend. I looked it over myself, as if I actually know what I'm looking for, while it was on the trailer. I did see some advice to do an inspection but also see no inspectors are in my area. I *would* consider this just to get a complete understanding of what I'm getting into. But my own look at the boat says it seems okay so far.

If it's the known boat from a board member that is active, I would trust it pretty implicitly. Random person of the street, get a board member to go with you.

It sounds like you're in good shape here.
