MEGA Fangs insall

Just installed my mega fangs onto my existing AK system from @Cobra Jet Steering LLC yesterday.

Install was fairly simple.

I took it out for a test today and was impressed with the results. Most noticeably more control reversing around the dock, which is why I purchased them. Slight difference noted in “power steering” effect.

Overall, Im satisfied with this purchase and was able to control the boat in reverse more than prior to this install. It isnt a necessity but neither are the fins in the first place. Its just a nice to have and added peace of mind for the extra bit of control. I had the regular fang previously and this upgrade to the MEGA fangs is worth the money in my opinion. Id recommend purchasing them if you are on the fence about it.

Makes me wish I hadn't bought the originals. Is there a huge improvement over the originals or just in general? I really like the steering feel when I installed Fangs last year. On a calm day, I could cruise with my hands off the wheel, instead of fighting it to stay straight.

If you are running with a pair of FANGs per pump - the difference by switching to MEGAs would probably not be too big. It is the switch from single FANG (per pump) with the AK system - replaced by a pair of MEGAs - that makes a world of a difference (in reverse).

One thing I have been doing for people who already have the regular fangs one per nozzle on the "Ultimate systems" is having them add a set of the mega fangs on the outside and move their regular fangs to the inside locations that way they get a lot more effect without needing to order the entire set. That runs 68 dollars during the sale or 85 when the sale is over.

I thought if you had the AK system with the fangs you needed a brace plus the megas. My system is new and was installed Nov. If I could improve it for 68.00 I would buy it.

I said the ultimate system as they already have the base plates , the magnum a k system is totally different and that needs the base plates to add the mega fangs and 4 new type mega fangs so this gets more expensive. So no unfortunately your system would not be that simple to modify.

I did notice much better straight line tracking with the mega fangs installed but I had made a slight alignment adjustment of my fins during the new fang install so not sure if its more the alignment fix or mega fang on the tracking. I only moved one fin an 1/8”.

Hey Jeff, My fins were on the boat when I bought it, so not exactly sure which they are, but next time I take the dogs out, I'm gonna snap a pic. If you see it and there is a cheap upgrade available, I'd like to get it ordered. Thanks!

Ok you probably have the Ultimates so look to see if the base plates "side force stabilizers" have the 4 small holes if not they can be added to the plates.

You have the Ultimate system with a single fang on outside of each base plate , so you can move those to the inside and add a set of mega fangs to the outside for 68 dollars during the sale.
This will increase the power steering effect and increase the revere control over what you currently have.
I would also suggest checking your clean out plugs for EZ locks if you do not have them you should add those for 32 dollars for the pair during the sale, my guess is that you do have them and from the looks of the steering being a older 6 hole system rather than the newer 7 hole system and evidence of the nozzles having had an even earlier style of my steering from years past. I would also guess the previous owner drilled the base plates when he installed the fangs since that set of plates is also an earlier style that did not have the holes originally. In any case this is all good for you since it makes upgrading simple.
Oh and what is that white stuff on the ground behind the boat???

So The sale is now over and I thank everyone for participating, I realize a lot of you will be waiting a while to get your parts on the boat or to get the boat in the water.
I myself am experiencing freezing artic air that must be somewhere in the low 50's yes 50's in the middle of the day imagine that!!! Damn it I have long pants on and a sweat shirt with SLEEVS I forgot what those were.
Last year I spend a total of 151 days on the water and 214 days taking care of business? Apparently I missed something!

Now after all this I just decided to review my web page to check on how the MEGA FANGS were listed since they have a lot more applications , so to my utter dismay and shock I see that nothing has been listed or changed even though I was told it was. WOW shame on me for not checking on it myself
and taking peoples word for it.
