Greetings!

I have a new-to-me 1995 SeaRay F16 with a Mercury Sport Jet 120 engine with the red stator on it.

The engine has no spark, I've been through posts in this forum and also followed the troubleshooting steps in CDI guide. I have also disconnected the black/yellow wire from the rev limiter.

For the red stator, the resistance values and DVA values match up to CDI guide's recommended values.
For the trigger, the Brown to White/Black wire resistance values and DVA values match. However for the Purple to White wires, there is an open circuit (0 resistance) and I don't get any DVA voltage connected or disconnected. This tells me that half of the trigger is bad.

Before I open the flywheel and take apart the stator and the trigger, I am questioning my theory and whether I should open it up or am I missing something - on the trigger, with Brown to White/Black circuit working and Purple to White circuit not working, I would think that I should have spark on some of the cylinders. I have no spark on all 4. Does anyone know which color wire triggers what cylinder, specifically, what Purple to White circuit is used for?

Any other pointers are welcome.

Thanks!

I posted a lot of info on those 120 and 90 hp force engines they were a real problem look for my posts basically the brain gets burned out if you do not get rid of the electrolytic capacitor that they use for the charging system I replace them with a p w c voltage regulator etc so look it up it has been a long time since I posted this so I do not remember all the details

Thanks for the reply, Cobra.
I have read your posts about the voltage regulator. I have the updated one, where the red wire goes to the battery for the excess.

I am suspecting that my boat's brain is fried too, but as per the CDI guide, the stator DVA with the brain still connected is within the range, so I am getting mixed signals.

Thanks for taking the time and responding!

I had a 90 sport jet that the magnets came loose on the flywheel causing it to have no spark.
