I know there is probably a real name for the boat pole, but...

Anyway, I hardly ever use the handy thing, because it was stored under a seat (and mine aren't hinged). So I put it here:

The black strap is a Velcro line holder that I don't use. I just slipped it behind the cushion...

Oh ! I'm sorry ............. I mis-read the THREAD title line .......
I read
"Mouting Solution for Boat Pole"

... and I figgered we was gonna have another thread dedicated towards mounting 1 more Stripper Pole on a Yamaha !

Sorry . I got carried aways. Oh ! My thobbing heart !

Tim, how is the aft portion attached. I like this idea because the reacher is never easily available and you usually need it immediately when the time arrives.

This is gonna sound like a rookie question, but here goes. I bought one of these poles last month. I bought to help when I pull up to the dock. Basically to help grab or push away. So my question is, are there other uses for it I'm not aware?

1) Picking up stray people or objects floating in the water.
2) "Pushing away" when you get near or into a rocky area or an area that is way too shallow.
3) Holding overboard for a struggling swimmer.
4) A fishing pole, in a pinch.

So... we always put it right under the sunpad seating area (we always have those cushions in so that space is usable). I REALLY don't like the usual "boat hook" and pole setups... so this is what I use:

Home Depot for the rod:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Shur-Lin...-Extension-Pole-06570L/100534761?N=5yc1vZary0

Amazon for the hook:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XAJVC6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The outcome is a really compact pole that extends in two directions with the push of a button and the pull on the base of the pole. It's hard to explain, maybe I'll take a video of it some time, but the short version is the rod is double telescoping which allows it to extend out really far really fast and condense down to really small without a lot of effort.

Right now it is not. Just sitting on top of the cushion. If it gets to moving, I will put another on the aft...

My wife once told me to stick it where the sun don't shine. J/k

See? You try to help, and it goes right in the toilet. :nailbiting:

:shamefullyembarrased:

I like the idea but it eliminates the driver's (I.e., my) soft topped arm rest, maybe that would be better on the port side.

I put my boat pole on the passenger side next to the window sitting on the fiberglass, slide the hook end up next to the head compartment, and use no hold down device, so far it has never fallen out of its location and is easy to retrieve for use. Not exactly sure on the 2012 but I think it would work for those boats too.

This is the best picture I have of the boat pole in place. The wife sits on the passenger side and has never complained that it is in the way, so it must a good location for us.

Another good use for a boat hook:
  1. Holding on to the wall when in a lock
  2. grabbing hats etc that blow off when driving fast
  3. checking for depth when water is really murky and depthfinder is blinking
  4. what others said above
