Guest, we are pleased to announce that Hydrophase Ridesteady is offering an extra $100 off for JETBOATERS.NET members on any Ridesteady for Yamaha Speed Control system purchased through March 7th, 2025. Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines.
Anyone know if the dealer can force you to have them register a new boat? I just want to get the MSO and do it myself. DNR will automatically send the title to the bank.
If you are financing it your lender should know but if you are financing it your lender may require it like insurance. I suspect that the same rule or policy that governs auto sales applies to boats as well.
Don't be surprised if Charleston Power Sports doesn't have the MSO/MCO which is another reason they do not wan't you to do that. Took them almost 3 months to register my boat back in the spring turns out the didn't have the MSO/MCO on hand when the sold me the boat and took them that long to get it. Not bashing them they were good to work with other then that.
Typically in CA, the dealer has to do it to transfer ownership. We also pay a small fee (usually about $50-80 or so) for them to do this "documentation." Out here we see this as money well spent to NOT have to go into the DMV in person and do it (as that'll suck away 1/2 day at best).

The title clerk fed me some bullshit about legal requirements, which upon researching the issue turned out to be ... well ... bullshit. The manager sent the title clerk to go register my boat in person today. They should have the paperwork this afternoon. The manager has been very helpful.

The last time I went to DNR here in Charleston, it was empty. It took less than 5 minutes to register the boat and get the registration card, stickers, etc. If the dealer slow rolls it, it could takes months to get the boat registered.
I'm hoping we will but it will probably just be a quick trip straight to the show and then back to Myrtle Beach if we go. I would love to check it out but probably won't have time this trip. Feel free to join us on the Locks Run in May we usually have about 15-20 forum members join below is a link to the thread.
