Music while driving boat

A couple of years ago I installed (2) pole db651 speakers behind the rear swim deck seats. This fixed my initial problem, which was being able to listen to music in the water without adding an amp and sub.
Now my next problem is I can not hear any tunes while I'm cruising or pulling a tube.

My guess is I will have to add an amp, my thought was to add (2) JL w7 speakers, one below passenger seat, also battery compartment, other below the throddle for driver?
What amp would you recommend?
Would the w7 provide a nice quality sound, without a ton of bass?

We are still in the little kid phase, 3 toddlers so I can't have bass drowning out all noise all day. I would add a switch to power when we were cruising.

I don't know 6.5" speakers are ever going to be able to drown you with base. If you want added base as an option, go with a second amp http://www.jlaudio.com/m200-2-marine-audio-m-series-amplifiers-98270 and a 10" sub http://www.jlaudio.com/mx10ib3-sg-tb-marine-audio-mx-series-subwoofer-drivers-91935 BUT add a separate volume control direct to the sub amp http://www.jlaudio.com/cl-vol-assy-car-audio-oem-interface-accessories-98193. You can have it all the way down with the kids aboard or shaking the seats on your own. A good time to be had for all.

W7 needs to be in a box, it should not be ran IB. It also a very powerful and loud woofer. I would not recommend it for a bit. The IB5 is a much better choice. It won't be as loud, but it also cost a hell of a lot less and does not need as much power.

I think your plan solves an issue you didn't have. A w7 ot other subwoofer will only play low frequency notes, not themajority of yoir music. What you want is an amp that will drive your existing speakers with more power, so you can hear them over wind, engine, etc. Theres no reason to run a switch fofor this amp, as youd also need a way to switch the input to the speakers for when your amp is off, just use the volume on the radio.

Start with a 4 channel amp, then evaluate if you need a subwoofer and what your budget is for the sub and amp.
