So I wanted to swap out the stereo and no wake switch panels and needed to fabricate a new plate for my Fusion IP600. So this is what I came up with. What do you think?
I started off with 1/2" Starboard material and ended up planing down to 3/8" as the 1/2" stood out too much.
I was going to redo the no wake switch panel with the Starboard as well until I realized the existing panel fit so I went with that for now. I would like to replace all the panels with carbon fiber as the Starboard does tend to scratch easier. But I had to do something for now in order to get the Fusion in and working.
For those of you interested in doing this yourself...
I started by making a template from plywood tracing the existing no wake panel.
Then using a pattern bit with the router I routed the Starboard
I added a slight chamfer around the top, cut the opening for the Fusion, sanded the edges to give it a brushed look.
(This pic was pre planing and sanding)
Then as I mentioned earlier I planed it to 3/8". You may be able to order it already at 3/8" rather than having to plane it.
I will try to get a side view shot from it installed.
I will say the stereo is much easier to read and control from this position. And no wake buttons are no more difficult to control either. So I am very HAPPY with this swap.
