So its been 6 years now and I really havent had a significant dumb sh!t moment resulting in a cost until today. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else but today while I was using the winch I noticed what looked like the strap was twisted, thing is I noticed too late. It was not twisted it was not properly on the spool and the strap got caught in the gears and perforated it like 80%. Sure enough when I put it back on the spool and tried to tighten it it snapped. Being that it was the loop part I was able to cut that off and just tie a simple knot on the hook for now.
Has anyone changed this out and where is the place to get one and what strength do I need?.

I like this one, may need to look at mine, maybe time to refresh:

Euuww Yellow?? Swat, I thought you were my boy
Good point. This better? lol

With my last boat (SX230), I bought a 1500lb winch from Northern Tool, I bought a whole new winch and strap as the strap was fraying, and the winch lock spring was weak. I think the stock one on my trailer was rated for 1000....so I over killed it. It was also like $40....so a no brainer.

I just replaced the strap on my boat, it was 6 bucks from walmart, just un-spooled it from the crank and replaced.

Maybe yellow would be a little more visible? You know, so you don’t grind this one up.

I snapped the factory strap at Shelbyville two years ago, replaced it with one I ordered off amazon. Easy install.
