I pick up my 2014 Yamaha 212x on Saturday! So many emotions right now. I hope to make many family memories. I think my dad is more excited that anyone. I live in Upstate NY and have some of the most gorgeous freshwater areas to boat on. I grew up summers on the St. Lawrence river and loved boating. As young kids maybe 13ish we had dads little dinghy with like a 20hp motor and had free run of the river. We would make surfboards for frogs and tow them behind the boat. Swim all day and enjoy our super short summers here. I will be able to visit my now retired parents in the Wilmington NC area and plan on doing some boating on the intercoastal waterway and Cape Fear area. I will need all the advice I can get! I know there will be tough times and a lot of blood, sweat and beers go into keeping the boat going but it is so much fun when times are good. I am also fortunate enough to have been around boats all my life. The jet boat choice only made perfect sense for me as I want to learn to wakeboard. Wakesurfing will just be a bonus. Another thing crossed off the bucket list. I have been reading the forums and can't thank everyone enough for all the years of experience that is shared. I am an avid RV'er and thought camping people were friendly. They have nothing compared to boaters!!!

Congrats, can't go wrong with a Yammy :D

Choosing a Yamaha will mean more time on the water and less time fixing things. Congratulations.

I love the Sackets Habor and Alexandria bay areas! Can't wait to explore more this summer!

Awe man! Alexandria Bay! We have a camp roughy across from Shimmerhorns if you know where that is? Originally from the Syracuse area (Skaneatles).

Welcome to NC! That’s where I am now too, Charlotte.

My uncle had a place in Ogdensburg. Had my first boating experience on that river. Have fun, like that even needs to be said.

Have you hung out in the Lake of the Isles in Abay? I hope to check out Singer castle this summer. 1000 islands is so gorgeous! If the weather here doesn't straighten out we are headed south to NC Southport/Oak Island area! Flooding is real bad! Lots of debris in the water.

I have not, been to Bolt castle more times than I can count though. I don’t get up that way much anymore but I sure do miss summers up there!

Would love to have a gathering on Lake Champlain some day.

Is this for Yamis only?

Congrats Shellb. I am into my second season in with my '18 AR240. I boat in and around Barnegat Bay in NJ. If and when you take your boat down to the Intercoastal and other saltwater bodies of water, there are a couple of things to remember: The onshore wind can whip the bay into a frenzy, and even a 24 can get a little dicey. Also, makes sure you plug a hose (with adaptor) into the freshwater flush out ports after each use, or after a weekend of use. Saltwater wreaks havoc. Having said this, you can be in for quite a thrill ride, or just a quiet cocktail cruise (none for the pilot). This past weekend, Silver Bay (side bay off Barnegat in Toms River) was flat with a gentle breeze in the AM. I laid the throttles down and held them there for the first time, twin engines screaming! I saw a steady 50MPH with full tank. That was FUN!
