What an incredible piece of movie making.
Left me speechless, wanting to go into the ocean.

That is so cool; being one with nature. Look forward to watching. Thanks for posting.

I am going to have to watch it again. We watched it last week but I fell asleep, I know lame. I was amazed by their ability, cognition used with shells as shields and ability to camouflage themselves with their surroundings. I did see the battle between a shark and octopus when she survived, but maybe I am mistaken and dreamed it all up. Wife says I am nuts, but she falls asleep before me usually. Good day to rewatch...snowing now, 60's later this week.

EDIT: Just watched again. Glad I did. I appreciate the photography more this time around, as well as the story. Amazing animals.

don’t know @swatski, seeing your girlfriend/pet being bitten by a shark is not something I could sit and record. To hell with the footage my camera is going up the shark’s rectum.

...and that is why I always appreciate your perspective, my friend!

F@$%. I feel pretty stupid right now, I should had thought of that.

But... I didn't, and now I face a stark choice - go hungry, or feel guilty...

Can't say anything, I brought it on myself.

This used to be my favorite lunch... now completely ruined.

We watched that a few weekends ago - really phenomenal story. Interesting about how smart the octopus was. However I couldn't help but think "man this dude really needs a gf or something..."

lololol. I just spilled my coffee.
In all seriousness, however, the dude kind of implied he was in recovery from something, at least that's what I got, so that made it all the more super cool to me. There is actually pretty good literature on using cold water and breath manipulation in treating PTSD, nothing that free diving off of the SOuth African coast would not do.

I gotta say that I was impressed with his ability to dive underwater for so long.

Exactly. I was thinking the same thing. I then started thinking I bet this guy would drive me nuts going on and on about how delicious his Kale salad is and how the kale is speaking to his body in ways he could never imagine.... Still a good story though.

LOL yes for sure.

The wife and I just finished watching this due to your recommendation Swatski. We really enjoyed it. My wife being from South Africa remembers visiting Cape Town numerous times and how truly powerful the water is crashing against the rocks. Thanks for the recommendation.

That movie/documentary was... different; very touchy feely; pictures were insanely good, probably meant for high def tv viewing and it was glorious.

I appreciated being able to catch a glimpse of the South African coast which always fascinated me, but I was also most impressed with this guy's athleticism, very understated. Anyone who has ever dubbed in free diving would know this guy's an Olympic-level free diver.
