Any botanist/arborist in the forum? I recently taken down 3 oak tree in my yard and I want something clean (not shedding to much leaf. I will eventually turn my yard into Japanese type garden and this looks like a bonsai. This is in Sebastian Inlet state park and ranger told me it could be maple which I highly doubt.CE0BFFC9-3337-4C65-9218-DE5A39DB5CAF.jpegE4AF5003-22A3-40A9-B3F9-6B932EB49806.jpeg

I was going to say some kind of Magnolia based on the thick waxy leaves. I have one in the front yard that doesn't look as "bansai-ish" as these, but has similar thick waxy leaves that are very broad and kind of banana shaped (prominently curved in one direction).

That looks more "bushy" than the first one you posted. Much closer to what's in my yard.

Leaves look right for the first one, but trunk and branch structure look off. I spent a few minutes googling and didn't get much further.
what kind of magnolia is that?

Does look very much Magnolia like. There are some cool plant identification apps (free ones) you can just take a picture of the leaf and it will tell you what it is.

I will download some apps and go back there tonight. Thanks Julian

I'm not 100% certain. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Southern Magnolia. I'm in KY, and it was here when I bought the house, although much smaller back then.

This is Nov 2015, just 6 short years ago.

I have a few peach trees here and the leaves and growth profile here look spot on. Will be curious to find out what you learn.

I'll double down on peach.
