I'm planning on inspecting a 2005 SX230 soon and would like any advice. Non HO model about 150 hrs. Is this a good choice? How does the '05 model stack up against the other years and the AR230?

Thanks!

05 has lower freeboard/sides than 07-09 and up,
what elevation will you be boating at? a non-HO motor at elevation can have performance issues,
what do you plan to do with it primarily, water sports, hangout ?
Hours should not be an issue, do they have receipts for maintainance?
where are you located, there may be a member around that could look at it with you,

Don't plan on operating in high elevations. Mostly pulling the kids on tubes and maybe some skiing. Seller advises he does his own maintenance and boat hasn't needed to go in the shop. I found a dealer who will check engine compression/hours and go over the boat for $144. Seems fair.

Also check the hull for cracks or crazing. Also check the bottom of the boat for damage.

Check the clean out plugs. If they do not remove and install easily then you will want to use $80 of repair kits on them.

Check the scupper valve, if it has the factory plastic scupper valve then you will want to install a $60 to $100 replacement.

Always go for a test drive. Period.

If that goes well let your mechanic inspect it. Is this a salt water boat?

Wound up buying the 2007 SX230. Got a great deal. Wasn't able to drive it until after I bought it, but it worked out great. Never used in salt according to seller and it looks like new. Very pleased.

Lol. I'm just now seeing the date of your last post.
