Guys I bought a Seadoo 230Wake that I am upgrading and need a little help on deciding on the speakers I am going to use. My hole cut out is 6inches. 4 in boat with 4 tower speakers. I will run one 12 inch sub.

I have looked at these.

JL 6.5's and 7.7's I am just not sure on M or MX series to get.

Wetsounds XS65i or XS650 or xs65 So confused... But do like wetsounds

Then I did like the Polk Audio MM651UM

Please if you have any advise I am open to anything. I do not have much of a budget, but want to just have a nice set up.

Yes I have used search but an just confused and would like help. Thanks!!!

I have the Polks and love them with my Wetsounds amp. Lots of guys like the JL's. Budget wise I think you can find the Polks the cheapest. I believe I got mine on sale on Amazon a year ago for about $120-$130 a set. Good luck in you choice but you really can't lose with those picks.

I was able to pick up wet sounds XS 650's from eBay 3 pair for 399.00 that is 66.50 each from Creative Audio. They were listed for 499 and had a best offer with it and they accepted 399 right away. I submitted all my receipts to wet sounds and got the full two year warranty for everything .I was also able to get the syn 4 amp from Creative Audio for 315.00 but that deal was made over the phone and again got the two year warranty with it. I then got all the install supplies - wire ,blocks , connectors from KnuKonceptz for 286.72 making my grand total for the entire setup $1000.72

You got the swim deck speakers or did you cut them in the mid cabin

I put the mx7.7 in my 210 challenger. The existing holes were just over 6 inches so a couple minutes with a Dremel and sanding wheel and they fit. With the 6" hole, there is not much for the mount screws on the 6.5 to catch.

@Chip F. thats a crazy good deal for that gear.

Everyone thanks for the input. So I have read not to buy the WetSounds XS65 Is there a defference in them and the XS 650's?
Are the XSi65's Better?

I agree doing JL 7.7's would be easy on my boat as there is plenty room. But MX or M style. M I believe is made for a amp or needs one for sure? Any input. But I also thought about a set of 6.5's and 7.7 for a better range. With one sub?

Anymore input on Polk audio's?

here are some wetsounds.

Any of the 7.7s need a amp. The Ms are their higher end speakers. I have MX's in my boat and they great and not $400

Thank you for the help.

I found this. It has me scratching my head. POLK Audio rates #1 out of all!

http://www.toptenreviews.com/home/auto/best-marine-speakers/

Yes, but that review is well documented as the biggest scam EVER!!! Purch Labs? OMG. It's not a lab at all. The 'test' method is a complete joke. The author knows next to zero about audio. You pay to get the #1 rating. However, that doesn't mean the Polk isn't a good speaker. It is a good speaker. Just not the #1 speaker by any legit standard.

Awesome thanks for the response. What do you recommend?

I am Leaning to the MX770's

For 6 1/2" speakers on paper The Polk MM651Um is the best speaker on the market. Spec wise at least.

There is no substitute for surface area. And a 770 is just plain larger. Pretty much ends the debate.

Guys thank you for all the responses, but I really would like more of what you guys prefer. I don't want to buy 7.7's if the 6.5's will work just as good. Since I will have tower speakers also. But I will if you guys think it to be the way to go.

If I stay 6.5's
If I want bigger like 7.7's

I am planning on a pair of towers also.

Yes, but the specs are meaningless when comparing brand to brand. There is no standardization.
Frequency response? 40 dB down at 40 Hz? They don't qualify the response within a given decibel range or at a specific decibel level.
Sensitivity? Voltage or wattage? Tested with what type noise? Peak or average? Some don't clarify. Some are incorrectly stated. Some don't know the difference.
Power handling? On what basis?

Polk specs are meaningless. It's just on paper and not worth the paper they're printed on.
Again, not saying the Polk isn't a good speaker. It is a good speaker. It just isn't the best speaker....unless you own them. At that point, whatever brand you own becomes the 'best' speaker.

David what do you recommend?
