Need some help. I pulled boat out of water and ran it for a second to clear water out and their was a rattling, ringing sound coming from impeller. Got under boat and looked the seal at the front of impeller has a 1/4" hole about 1" long. If seal leaks what will happen. Water in engine bay?

Someone responded to you on Facebook. Nicko is correct. Water will NOT go into your engine bay. It's not possible, no holes in the hull there.

But lack of a seal causes cavitation as he indicated. I'd definitely get that fixed correctly.

Here's a pic that will probably help you visualize. This is my boat with the whole pump out. You can see the impeller/ring is located inside a tunnel. The hole that CAN leak is where the driveshaft comes out of the boat. But not where you have a gap.

Also, look what is supposed to be around the pump. A rubber seal.

K. Thanks guys. Appreciate the help
