I'm trying to install a fish finder (garmin striker 4) how should I hook up the power? Directly to battery or is there a way to hook it up to something in the dash? My depth gauge doesn't work in the dash can I hook it up to that power source?

Any one know what is the best way to power a Fish Finder without running a direct cable to battery?

I have mine hooked up to a toggle switch. Have a couple not being used so I took one of them. Works fine, no issues.

I tapped mine into switch at helm as well.

Current draw is relatively small, so there are many ways to tap it. I would put it on switched power though, very easy to forget those things and leave them on, especially in the summer with bright light.

Ok thanks Ill have to poke my head under my dash and see what it looks like under there.

@capt Mine didn't have any accessory toggle switch so I just tapped into the power with the 12V outlet.

@capt I've installed 2 GPS/Charplotters in the 19' boats and used this as a REFERENCE, hope it helps.
