Hey guys looking at changing my air filters was wondering what y'all recommend

There's an R&D Racing one for sale on eBay going for $75. The ad says they only have one though. I've been contemplating doing some modified K&Ns, if I can find a close size and fabing them up to fit, but my stock ones are still in good shape. K&N has never been big in the marine market, but from looking at the R&D Racing ones, they use the same oiled cotton filter media as K&N. I assume because the mr1 has the four flame arrestors on the intakes (and is fuel injected - minimizing the risk of a backfire out of the intake) the air filter does not have to be flame retardant and functions as just a filter. I've heard of guys running filter less, but I run salt water 90% of the time and have cleaned sand from inside the engine box - no idea how it got there, but it certainly made me a firm believer in keeping the filters on! Nice boat, Btw. We are running an all white 2003 too!

Some reason you need a new air filter? Many have considered "performance" filters, but when they tried running with no filters and saw zero improvement they didn't bother. So try that first, and the engines perform the same, put the old ones in and call it a day.

Was just thinking I hadn't changed them they still look good and I still get about 10100 rpms on both engines .

Boats didn't used to have air filters as there isn't much stuff to suck in while on the water (no road dust etc)...so they don't pick up much stuff unlike cars. So if your boat is running fine...I'd leave well enough alone.

Just FYI we are selling a K&N filter that is washable. I am not sure I can speak to the performance side but the fact that it is reusable is a big deal. The part was developed by Riva Racing so we know that it can be trusted to be spot on quality wise and in regards to fit.

Ok thanks do you need to reoil them like you do k/n filters or just wash them out . Did u notice any difference performance wise

Thank Goodness you have them...I soaked my factory air filters by mistake with fogging oil....I just ordered 2!

We've heard good things about them.
