Just pulled the trigger and bought a boat. A Yamaha SX190 for me and the wife. We Live in Lexington Ky and plan to spend time down at Lake Cumberland and other lakes in KY and Tenn.

Looking for advice and suggestions for....
1. Best Lakes in those areas
2. Best launch location
3. Suggestions for dry dock, storage Locations or slip at Cumberland and best cost
4. Best area at Lake Cumberland (in our 40s) for some quiet time but also time for water sports.
Any Suggestions or tips appreciated. Thanks

:Welcome: to the forum and congrats!

Welcome & Congrats @Yeary4 . I too live in LEX and have been a slip customer at State Dock on Lake Cumberland for 5 years. Not sure that it is the best , and definitely not the cheapest mooring rates on Cumberland. Its a long haul from home ( 2 hours each way ) but I made the decision before buying the boat if I couldn't afford the slip , I would not own a boat. There would be no enjoyment for use in towing/launching/retrieving. We are NOT in our mid 40s (+20) !! Lees Ford Marina is the closest to LEX on Cumberland and somewhat less annual mooring fees than either State Dock or Jamestown Marina. Feel free to pm me if I can assist with any other questions or advise ?

Thanks. Will probably PM you later. I agree, don’t want to pull up and down 75.

Do they do 6 month rentals as I had planned to bring it back and indoor store in winter. And what Marina are you at?

I don't think so but I never specifically asked them ? Annual rentals run from April 1 thru March 31. Others ( Conley Bottom / Lees Ford might do "seasonal "rentals ?

Welcome aboard!

I'm in the Louisville area. We spend a good deal of time on Taylorsville (little small for the drive from Lexington). We also visit Green River a few times a year. Can't say enough good things about the Holmes Bend Marina and Campground.

Wife and I were married at the lodge at Dale Hollow, so we try to make it there once a year or so. Super clear water there.
