Hey guys. Just picked up a 20 ft jet boat for some river hunting out here in Alaska, been browsing some to get info figured I’d become a member.

Welcome!

We've seen that outboard jet a few times - how well does it work for you? What does the intake look like and how good a job does it do with preventing the intake of rocks and weeds?

It’s a Yamaha 80 Jet (115 prop), I only have about 5 hours on it so far but I’m pretty happy with it. Averaging about 20 mph and 4.5 gph at cruise with a top speed of 32 right now. Still playing with engine height as I was having some pretty bad cavitation and rpm surging issues last run, but it was windy and rough so hard to complain about the engine when it could well have been a setup issue.

I will let you know after I have a few more hours on her.

Nice boat and a Yamaha outboard/jet nice dependable set up.

Welcome!! Continue to post pics in the "One pic of your last outing" thread and the like. I'd like to see what adventures that boat gets up to.
