Just finally picked up my boat this past weekend. I have been around boats all my life as I grew up on skiatook lake in oklahoma. I have always wanted a yamaha jet boat for the deck. After 10 years of wanting one I finally got it. I bought a left over 15 , as this was the only 210 or lower boat left in oklahoma, new. We picked it up at Grand lake on Saturday. Of course I have bee to grand many times, but it this was the worst day ever for grand. Our tech that took us out before we did all the paperwork agreed. Big waves and 50 to 60 footers going wot everywhere. We got back in and did all the paperwork. I was aware of the low speed steering issues and compensated well with thrust control. I trailered perfectly, the guys from the store were impressed. I thought I did well but got lucky for the first time. Loaded up and started our three hour drive home. We went to our house e lake, a much smaller lake and had a blast but it was windy. My wife wanted to trailer it at the end of the day. She hates backing trailers. She did good but came in a little hot. I caught the boat and loaded it up. She was a little freaked out because she felt she had no control. I explained about the wind and low speed contol. She felt better about it. Assoon as I got home I ordered some cf ultimates.

Love the boat and the fins should be here weds or Thurs so that will give her confindence

I think he needs to join the FANG nation " strictly for the wife's sake of course!" Although if he does put them on he won't get to drive the boat very often.

@djetok We went out on Grand for the Fourth of July weekend. We got our asses kicked by the huge cruisers on Saturday. By noon it was a washing machine. But we were able to make it up to Island Joe's at Shangri-La on Monkey Island for a burger and a beer. The cruise back around dusk was much better.

Welcome to the board and Congrats on the new boat. She's a beauty.

@Bill D Yeah I have spent a lot of time on Grand. I knew that a 21 foot boat was small especially duck creek area, where most the cruisers dock at would be a issue. Our house was on the south end by Langley on open water. We ultimately sold it because we spent more money fixing the dock every year. Of course we were basically on open water. We did have a railed boat house too, so the boat didn't take a beating all the time. I like grand but Skiatook lake is my favorite lake. Not to big and not to small. Plus I know the lake very well. I watched the filming of the church burning in "The Outsiders" which in now underwater at Skiatook.

Thanks for all the welcomes by everyone.

We put in at Cedar Point Marina in Disney, so we got the full brunt of the open water. Haha. I had a good laugh when we stopped to inspect the public ramps and noted that there was no courtesy dock and there was 3 footers rolling in. I can only imagine the dock maintenance.

Duck Creek was neat. We rafted up with a bunch of other boats up by Harbors View and swam for a while to shake off the bruises. It was fun looking around at all the huge boats.

My sister lives in Claremore, and my parents just bought a house off Hudson. I'm not sure why they all wanted to go to Grand, but it was their call. Skiatook looks like it would have been a little less adventurous.
