Hey everyone! My name is Rich and I recently bought a 2015 Yamaha 212x from River Valley (Garret) at the Minneapolis boat show. I can't wait to get her in the garage (yes, 8' header) and start making her mine. I have been working on the modification list with a lot of help from this forum. I have a feeling that the UPS driver is going to be stopping by here pretty often going forward.

I am new to the Minneapolis, having grown up in Southern California and lived in Florida and Arizona before moving here last Summer (yes, what was I thinking). This is the first boat I have owned, but I have been boating on and off for years with family boats (runabout / pontoon), mainly on Lake Mead. My "home" lakes here will be Independence and Minnetonka.

When I lived in AZ I had a highly modified Jeep and was very active in a club/forum in which we shared our experiences with mods and organized outings together. From what I see JB.net is very similar and look forward to that camaraderie.

My handle "eticket" comes from my youth in SoCal way back in the day when you had individual tickets for rides. The most exciting rides required an "E" ticket, and I expect my 212x is going to be worth of an "E" ticket!

Sorry no pics yet but I will get those added soon enough.

Thanks,
Rich (eticket)

glad to have you on board, AZ to MSP that's quite a change, I hope the compensation was good! meet some new friends and get ready to have some fun!

Welcome aboard @eticket ! Congrats on the 212 and the move (I think?) Seriously, I haven't spent much time in the MSP area, but the short layovers there I have had, the people are always great and I liked the city too. I have conversed with a number of folks from there on the forum and that just reinforced my experience. I can tell you this, it is a different kind of boating, and the lakes are fabulous...and you can almost pick a new one each week! Glad to have you on the forum and look forward to sharing your adventure as well as mods with you.

Hi eticket, and congrats on the new boat! Maybe we'll see you on the water sometime. We have called Lake Minnetonka our home lake for many years but we are trying to spend more time up on the Gull Lake chain, to get away from the city. Our favorite areas on 'Tonka are Robinsons Bay and St Albans Bay for chilling at anchor. The water clarity is amazing in those areas! We like anywhere on the lower lake for early morning wakeboarding. We used to rent a cottage on south side of Big Island every summer. Being a metro lake it can get a little hectic on the weekends, but weekdays on the lake cant be beat!

Thanks Scottintexas...I will take your advice!

Thanks as well txav8r. 7 months in and so far the transition is going very well. The people are really welcoming. We are certainly looking forward to the variety of lakes, one around every corner!

Hi Motorboater and thanks for the welcome. Likewise I hope to see you on Minnetonka this summer and get some good advice on the area. I spent a few days at Madden's this past Summer and agree that's a great place to take a boat and spend time. I work with a bunch of local Minnesotans and they all "head North" on the weekends for their fun.

Yup, its a weekly migration. :)

Welcome aboard. Happy to have you with us!!!!! Congrats on the new boat...:Welcome:

Welcome aboard, @eticket! You will love the lakes in this part of the country. Make sure you prioritize water time on nice summer weekends as the boating season is shorter this far north. Oh, and your 212X is definitely an eticket ride! Congrats.

Welcome aboard @eticket glad to have you. I remember the disneyland tickets too. Make sure to post pics of the boat when you get it.

Welcome @eticket !
Rich - Really glad you chose to join us. Pull up a chair and enjoy yourself.
Ya bought yourself a great boat. Best Wishes for the Boating Season of your life !

Welcome to the family.

Thanks for all the welcome messages, looks like I found a great place!

Welcome!

I am always relieved when someone from MN is able to find a lake into which to plop one of our boats. I hear that the lakes are pretty rare up there. <grin> (I did undergrad up there--I know).

I think you will find MN a bit chillier than AZ was at this time of year. Don't be discouraged; you will have that new baby in the water and having fun in no time!

@tdonoughue - Thanks for the welcome. When I lived in AZ it was in the Prescott area @ 5000 feet, so I got introduced to the concepts of jackets, gloves and heated seats after never needing them before in SoCal or South Florida. Looking back it was "training wheels" for my move to Minnesota.

I am not discouraged...in fact I am putting that lake to use despite the foot of ice, here is how we do it:

Welcome to the forum, glad to see another MN member on here. I'm on Tonka most weekends and the occasional weekday when I play hooky from work. Enjoy the new/first boat as well, you will have a blast with it I'm sure!
