you'll enjoy the great info on this forum and the great (very long) boating season we get down here.
Just watch out for your state bird .... the mosquitoes down here have been known to take small dogs away with them.

Yes we already screened in our back porch! We have been down here a year but participated in the Tickfaw 200 last year. We tend to boat on False River or the Amite River. Any good hidden gems in Louisiana?

Only thing I know about is the Poker Run (see link below). I live just north of Orange Beach, AL and spend my time over there and in FL. If you can, I recommend bringing the boat over to watch the Blue Angles fly over Pensacola, FL - that is one hell of a great time from the boat!!

Yes, the poker run is the Tickfaw 200 run I did last year.
Have you been to Dauphin Island? I saw they have a pet friendly campground with a launch. I think we will try that soon. Any good boat up places there?
We go there quite often - taking the boat from our side of the Mobile Bay and riding over. The main marina will let you use day slips for free. Do bring your bikes!! Its a long walk up and down the beach/road and most of the locals/renters use bikes to get around the place. As for boating around the island I don't know much. We normally moor up and just enjoy the whole day over there. They have a lot of great local restaurants and (especially if you have young ones) I recommend the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Great place!
However I believe that the Gulf Shores state park is also pet friendly and is much closer to very nice boating! A lot of small coves and bar & grills on the water.
I am quite partial to my local waves. http://www.alapark.com/gulf-state-park
