Hello all,

My patience finally ran out and I picked up my new 2016 242 Limited e-series on Friday. I have been boating since 2006 when I purchased a 95 Sea Ray 240 ov, 454 Bravo I outdrive. I had no idea they were making jet boats so big until I ran across some member utube videos heading to Bimini. That's all it took, lol I was instantly hooked!






I've been reading all i can in the forums, but i still have a few questions if someone could direct me to the proper thread.

1. Clean out plugs for the jet drives....do i need to remove mine like I have read others doing after each outing?

2. Yamaha Mooring cover....Silver gray vs Black?.....I would rather have the premium cover, but just feel black is going to cook the interior.

3. Finally, any advice going from I/O to Jet and what to look out for....

First off welcome. You will love your yamaha. I got a 2016 SX240. As for your questions. I take my cleanout ports out after every outting due to being in salt water. I spray my with little squirt if yamalube to keep them from dry rotting. The covers: i think the black one is a little thicker thus giving you a little more protection. As long as you keep the maintenance up on it, it should last a long time. The one thing to keep and eyes on is what i call the "accessory bug". Seems like every time i get on here i find something else i need for the boat. Not sure if your a big music guy but gutting thet stock spearks was something i did almost day one and upgraded to JL Audio and a hell of alot of them lol.

First off - Great tow vehicle!!!
I live about 30 miles north of the map turning blue and we love our Premium Yamaha cover. It doesn't "cook" the interior down here, so I'm quite sure you will be fine. We boat solely in salt/brackish water and I always take out the plugs after every outing (and flush the engines with fresh water). The salt will do the most damage.

You'll enjoy the boat and the ease of care. Plenty of information on here. Also utilize the User Map (top left on any page) and find those close to you for hands on experience & advise.
