hello all. I just became a member on the forums. I really appreciate all of the great information found here. I currently own a Bayliner 175, but I'm really considering a Yamaha. 99% of my boating is done in lake hopatcong NJ. I have a 4 year old son, and I cringe every time he jumps off the back of the boat. I'm considering a 2017 SX210 whenever they are available. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Welcome Aboard!

We bought our first Yamaha when our 5 and 3 year olds wanted to start boating. We live on a lake and they started asking about every boat that passed by. Not having props gives me a huge feeling of safety with them on the boat. I grew up doing water sports behind an outboard motor. I feel so much safer about my kids being around the jets.

Welcome!!! We look forward to seeing what you buy. Let us know if you need any help spending your money.....lol :Welcome:

I got a wife for that. But I'll still ask you guys.

Welcome and browse the for sale section here as well. May find a nice boat and save money!

Welcome! This Forum will get you squared away!

Welcome @Av8tor07 glad that you found us. Good luck with your search for a new boat. IMHO, you'd be better to look for a boat with a tower. Your son will want one pretty soon. Might as well get it now, right?

See it has begun already. @itsdgm is already trying to get you to spend more money. Although I do agree with him about the tower. :) Next the others will start with "don't get the 210, buy the 240". The 210 is a good boat. Perfect for newbies and mine has done all I have I have asked and more and I couldn't be happier with it. It's now 2 years old and I get compliments on it EVERY time I am out.

Edit: Also nice for those that don't want to (or can't afford to) spend $70K

We don't plan on doing any wakeboarding. I think that the sx210 will be enough, I'm wondering about how the TR-1 will work on the boat. I will also be willing to purchase a 2016 left over if I get a good price. I'm trying to find out where the members area is so that I can meet with someone in NJ that has a Yamaha, so that I can take a look at it.

I think the others will correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they made the 210 series boats in 2016?

Man this forum is powerful. You started at sx210 and worked up to 240 in just a few posts. AMAZING! :D

Yup. Welcome from the other end of NJ.

Welcome aboard !

You are correct that for 2016 there was no SX210 or AR210, but they did have the 212SS and 212X. You can look that up here.

Hey Julian. Thanks for your input. You seem to be very knowledgeable when it comes to Yamahas, so I'm wondering if I can ask you a couple of questions? What do you think is a better choice, a 2016 212ss or 212x vs waiting for a 2017 sx210. The sx210 has a msrp of $39,999 plus all of the stuff that gets thrown in on top of that. I've seen some 2016 212x in the low 40's. Your opinion is appreciated, thanks
