Took delivery today on a 2019 212X. Spent about 3 hours on the water with no issues. Decided to head back and once we hit 3500 rpms, the starboard engine started making a loud grinding noise. Turned off the engines, checked the clean out ports and there was nothing. Started it up again and it still kept the grinding above 3500 rpms. Dealer told me to bring it it but to check the clean out ports. Any advice as they’re closed tomorrow. Thanks for any help.

Weird, sounds like a fan motor.

You won't always see or it may be difficult to feel something wedged in the impeller. It may require trailering the boat and inspecting more carefully. In some cases removing the jet nozzel to access the impeller. Basically 4 bolts and it's off, no biggy.

Sounds like cavitation to me. I agree with others. Check your pump from behind the boat and underneath through the intake.

agree something is in the pump look from under the intake grates you may see something in between the impeller blades

Yes... u sucked up something... sometimes u have to stuck your hand in the intact grate with your phone on it and take a picture in.krder to see it. If it's something wedged in there that tight u may have to yank the pump to get it out.

If it is a piece of wood and you have a hair dryer handy you can dry it out and it will loosen and often just fall out .

I had a plastic water bottle wedged in mine once. Pulled the plug to check and felt it but could not pry it free. Had to limp back (single engine). Took off the rear housing, freed the impeller from the bottle cap and all was good as new. No worries...

Agree with everyone else. You sucked up something up. Look underneath inside the intake grate and also look at the impeller from the back of the boat with the reverse bucket up so you can see inside the jet tunnel and impeller. Could be a bottle cap, fishing lure, stick, you name it.

The clean out ports are mainly for vegetation that can make it past the impeller but end up clumping up inside the tunnel which kills the thrust.

This happened to me yesterday and was a chunk of wood wedged in the impeller. It was a pain to get out through the cleanout port but after 5 minutes or so we got it.

What did you do to get ahold of it so I can try again while it’s on the trailer

There was just enough to grab onto with my fingers. Just wiggled back and forth for a bit and finally worked it out.

If it is a twig it will dry up in a couple days and probably fall out.
