So I finally landed myself a boat this past week, after a month of always being 1 step behind. But 3rd time was a charm, and I got an incredible deal on a 2014 AR240, which included the Thrust Vector and Throttle Sync already installed. Took it out on the Tennessee River on Saturday, and saw a few other Yamaha's out. Beautiful AR190 in Blue coming from Decatur. Had a nice day of over 6 hours of riding. The very end of the day I had an engine overheat alarm when we were waiting for everyone to dock and unload. I figured it was from sitting still and the engines being hot, but there was also plenty of junk in the river. Killed the engine and waited for crowd to reduce, and it fired up and the alarm quit. Ready to get back out tomorrow!! Love this forum already!!

Welcome and have fun! Hopefully overheats will not return. Your boat will float in very shallow water, but do not run it shallow water. If it sucks up sand it can overheat and if it sucks up enough sand, the overheats will not go away. I would know.

@RBC3 how goes the boating out that way?

Welcome to the club! We are on Wheeler lake as well. If you see us out be sure to swing by and say hey anytime. We are in a 2015 242LS and we keep ours at Lucy's Marina

Welcome aboard. We're on Wheeler most of the time as well. We're in a 242x and we'll keep an eye out for you.

Thanks for all of the replies! Love it so far, but we ended up dry docking it at Sunrise Marina in Guntersville. We have been on it almost every weekend that the weather has been good. About to post something in the 240 forum, as I seem to be having an issue with the bilge pump.

I have seen a 242x being towed by a F250 in Madison twice now. Great looking boat!!!

I wonder where they boat at. I haven't seen another 242x around this area yet.

Friday he was headed towards 565, so I figured Decatur

What Color was the boat?

I'm not sure, the 1st time I saw it he crossed my path. I could only see the back. The 2nd time it was covered, and i couldn't tell.

Who does your maintenance? Starting to think about winterizing in a month or so, and want to have my ducks in a row.

I've done all oil changes and winterizing myself. I guess there's a mechanic or two around but for the Yamaha, it's honestly a very simple process.

I do all my own maintenance as well. Very easy with the Yamaha.

Thanks! I started looking at some Youtube videos on doing the oil and plugs.

Do yall fog your engine? I have seen a bunch of opposing positions on this. What all do you do for winterization?

I fog my engines, but only because I change my plugs every spring when I change the oil.

Also pull your clean out plugs and make sure you drain all the water out.
