I know with the weather the way it is, snowing in the south from Texas to the Carolina's and Virginia. It's hard to think about boats when your marina is frozen over. But since I live in Vermont, I'm over it already, I have to start thinking about next year, or Cabin Fever will take hold.
Today, we decided to check out the progress of the new Marina in town, Burlington Harbor Marina on the waterfront in Burlington, where it is not frozen yet. Previous to this marina, there were no marina's in Burlington to slip 30'+ boats. Kind of ridiculous. Main reason is it is kind of exposed to conditions with a breakwater to protect the waterfront area. Here are are a few news links aboout it. https://www.mynbc5.com/article/construction-begins-on-new-burlington-harbor-marina/20976659 and another channel if you prefer. https://www.mychamplainvalley.com/n...-burlington-waterfront-next-spring/1321084516.
The reason I am bringing it up is that is where we will be slipping the Beneteau next season. The deeper water at that port will be better for us in our deep draft sailboat as we found it hard for us to leave the Mallets Bay area when the lake level gets low, nerve racking if you dont know your depth sounder yet. Now we have direct access to the broad lake and so many other benefits Burlington has to offer, Pretty stoked! The area is still a construction site and the other half would not let me walk in to take any closer pictures.
That's our slip on A dock if you want to visit us next year. Here are few more pics. I will try to explain as I go.
Standing with the Coast Guard station on the right are C, D and E docks beyond the small breakwater. Yes, that is New York across the Lake.
Now with Coast Guard station on left you can spot the ramp down to B dock.
And finally a peek at A dock. You can see part of it, not finished, heading out towards the light house. That is a floating wave attenuation breakwater dock. http://sfmarinausa.com/floating-breakwaters/
We are psyched, because now we have access to great take-out food while we are just hanging at the Marina in the evenings. The City needed this.
