I don't know if it's just Yamaha or the industry standard, but why are new models introduced at the end of the season? Wouldn't it be more logical to introduce in the Spring and have sales throughout the Summer since things slow down so much over the Winter?

You always hear the best deals are in the Winter as the boats turn into pumpkins before the become hot commodities again in the Spring. If the majority of boat purchases are done in the Spring and Summer the timing of Yamaha's new models would always put me in a wait and see. Spring/Summer of 2017 the pending release of the 2018 would always be on my mind.

Same reasons it's done in the automotive industry. Because one manufacturer started it and everyone else has to keep up to feel like they are competitive. Why buy a 'new' 2016 from manufacturer A when you can get a 2017, with the resale value/other perceived benefits, from manufacturer B?

Also Yamaha doesn't move much on pricing so it doesn't hurt to bad. Plus they can work on production and delivery over the winter. I would hate to buy in spring with a 6-8 week build deliver time to show up at end of summer. I know they have some inventory ready but some people wait on delivery.

In the auto industry are there seasons? I can understand that someone will buy a car anytime of the year because they can use it anytime, but most would buy a boat when it would be used.

Just buy the boat now...and move to warm climate. Lol
