I’ve been on the forum for a few weeks, but had not written an introduction post. We live in Commerce Township, Michigan in an area known as “The Lakes Area”, so we have a lot of options nearby for boating. We usually boat at Cass Lake, which has a state park with a beach and picnic area on the water.

We bought our first boat used in 2016. It was a 1973 Glastron V-156. Here’s a picture of it. She’s a beauty, no doubt. After five seasons of struggling with old boat syndrome and lacking amenities like a swim platform, we decided it was time to upgrade.

We bought our 2021 SX-190 in July. It has everything we wanted. Here are a few pictures of it, including a shot from Lake Erie.

That’s my son with his first walleye. That one had to be thrown back, but he caught a keeper later that day. It was delicious!

Nice! My grandmother had a cottage on Wolverine Lake (she never had a boat through).

Welcome to the Jetlife! Nice boat and better pic of the family time that the boat affords!!

Welcome!!

Just a slight upgrade in boats but I'm sure you'll be pleased with the Yamaha ;)

My 13 year old son finished his boating safety course today! It was an online program and I’m pretty sure he hated every minute of it, but he did it. Now he’s legal when I let him drive the boat.

Fantastic. I had everyone in the house take the tests, and I did it as well.

I live in Royal Oak and I am always on Lake St. Clair, Orchard Lake, Cass Lake and a lot of the other lakes around depending on what the family wants to do. If you need anything let me know, I am always around.

@HangOutdoors - Thank you! As an old guy, I'm grandfathered in. But I think I'll take it this winter just to be sure I have all of my bases covered. I hope to see you on the lake some time.

I am 53, but did it anyhow. Actually learned a bunch and refreshed a lot of things as well. :)

Don't forget insurance will often give a nice discount for providing proof of completion of a safety course or certification. ? I got a nice discount from Safeco even for my Coast Guard Aux cert from 1989! These days I just keep up to date with their latest publications - I think the most recent is Boating Skills and Seamanship 14th edition.

Likely to see each other on Cass! Just joined here from the same area with a new Yamaha.
