No nut on cone end of impeller shaft?

Had to cut off one impeller shaft that was stuck in the intermediate bearing. Rather than order a new shaft I bought a used assembly from a 1998 exciter which has the same part number shaft as my 02 ls2000.
In looking at the assy I notice the cone end is a larger diameter than the original and there is no nut or washer.
Looking at the parts diagram shows no nut either. Is this correct? Doesnt seem right, the end of the shaft is threaded. Why no nut???

Surely there should be a nut on it. It just looks like this, no nut?

Should look like this, I would think.......nut and washer.

BUT, this is from my 05 AR230

Here's what they look like. Hard to see but the one on the left (98 Exciter) has a larger diameter shaft and no nut or washer. The right is the one I cut out.
