Sounds like pick up coil............location behind drive shaft(for replacement) but you can check it with a voltage meter and ohm meter. You will need service manual(describes how to do this and gives you what voltage and ohm reading you should get. Now one of the first checks they call for in the service manual is check the ground wires in the pick up coil harness..........if the grounds are ok they move on to checking the coil itself.
