I use their oil in my semi trucks, it quiets the engine and is super slick. My mileage goes up and are smoother. I started using the 5w 30 in my ecoboost f150. Same results as the semis. I get 2 mpg better fuel economy with my same driving. Would this be ok to run in the boat. Screenshot_2016-08-26-21-37-46.png

I am curious as well. Many of us use oil other than Yamalube.

My SX230 came with Mobil 1 in it and I have stuck with it.

As long as the oil meets the specs it should be fine. If it has benefit perhaps more of us would switch.

I switched my truck from mobil 1 and saw the increase. I can post the data sheet Screenshot_20160826-224208.png

I read and re-read just about every oil thread on greenhulk for Yamaha engines. This opinion below is one that stuck with me.

Personally, I use Yamaha 4w kit for first couple oil changes, then switch to amsoil 4 stroke marine synthetic.
Mobil 1 10w-40 is great oil and readily available (motorcycle 4T).

I wouldn't use 5w-30 in this engine. These engines are designed to run 10w-40 as they use the oil as a barrier between rotating surfaces and the lighter oil runs a higher risk of not having enough oil pressure and film strength to properly maintain necessary clearances for high pressure/high rpm operation. The manufacturer recommends 10w-40 and I have tried a bunch of different ones and all have worked well just fine. I would run a good quality oil such as Mobil, Castrol, Amsoil or the factory recommended Yamalube. There are others that will work just as well but the important thing is to use a good quality 10w-40 without friction modifiers and most motorcyle oils meet these requirements and alot of people use motorcycle oils with great success.

I switched to 10w-40 and (according to the YDS) the oil pressure switch still turns on at idle when the engine is hot.
