It seems that quite a few people have added a second sub wired in parallel to bring the load down from 4 ohms to 2 ohms.

My question is there any particular benefit to this vs just swapping out the factory sub for a 4 ohm DVC sub and wiring the coils in parallel to get the same 2 ohm load? And avoiding cutting a hole in the starboard side.
READY, SET, GO...........
