I just received a video from my Yamaha dealer, who also carries many other boat brands. They are a fairly big company that has 5 or so marina locations. It was a lengthy video but if I paraphrase it, the message was that most boat companies they deal with are struggling to meet anticipated production quotas for the coming 2021 season. So much so that the dealer will will not be attending the huge Toronto Boat Show this year as they will not have enough product to show. They encourage customers wanting 2021 boats to book now. They have secured "boat show" special prices and/or options from their manufacturers and will offer first choices to regular customers before they start taking orders from first time customers. I do not think this is any sort of a "sales gimmick". I think there is going to be a massive shortage of new boats in 2021. Interesting?

Yea we met with a dealer yesterday. It's not a sales gimmick. The showroom was almost completely empty. This dealer is doing a $1000 refundable deposit to put your name on a list as boats come in. They've already ordered their 2021 inventory, but deliveries are delayed by both Yamaha production capacity and Yamaha suppliers capacity. We're looking at the new 255, and it may be Nov.

I've read where most Yamaha dealers were completely sold out of 2020 inventory by the end of June. It's feasible that 2021 could be worse. It seems the boating industry is one of the few to benefit from Covid.

This is great news for all of us that have gotten new boats!!

I don't really want to sell boat, but if the Supply/Demand issue persists, I feel like I'd be throwing money away by not selling it!

Of course, that would either leave me boatless or on the hook to buy a new boat without the great deal we got in 2015 on our 212X.
