So I may have to break down this spring and buy a GPS speed system for wake surfing...I know perfect pass is the cat's hat but how does it compare to the ride steady?? We will mostly be using it for surfing so please let me know recommendations for which ones to purchase? Also what size for a 2015 212X? My boat is in storage and I can't find any real info on the speedo and all that. Thanks in advance.

The Ridesteady system was developed to work electronically with the APS sensors. So, if your boat/engine have them, Ridesteady should be compatible.

The older engines (without the APS sensor) would have to have the throttle manipulated mechanically, which would require a new design that we didn't decide was worth it when our competitor Perfectpass already has a working solution, as I understand it.

I'd get Ridesteady. Plug and play, digital and does not require additional mechanical servos like Perfect Pass.

not sure what your boat needs but not happy that my PP LCD is going out after only a few years and it's like $250. for a new display,

love my PP though, it's definitely worth having some sort of speed control for water sports,

As @haknslash indicated, the R-S is a fly-by-wire, plug and play super awesome system, light years ahead of PP.

Plus the customer service @Ridesteady is hard to beat. I have never talked to perfect pass but it was a simple install
