I have always gone to the mountains to camp and ride horses since I was literally 4 years old. It had never occurred to me to camp at the lake, but last Summer a buddy invited us to take our camper with his family at the lake. I got the bright idea to rent a pontoon and my wife was super excited about that. This is a picture of an awesome day on the water that led to a part-time job of researching which boat to buy. I would never want a pontoon so I started looking for bow riders on Craigslist (since I would also never buy a new boat). After about a week or two of searching and researching I found YJB and never left until yesterday. Now here I am with a new boat, ordered, paid for, and on the way (supposedly LOL). Moral of the story, small decisions can sometimes have big consequences and never say never. With my luck my next boat will be a pontoon (jet powered maybe) since I said never!! LOL

Funny, I never had an avatar, uploaded a picture, file or video to the other site because I could never seem to get anything to work. I've done all of those and more on here because the site work flawlessly and is intuitive w/regard to how to do those things!!

That's the first thing I noticed about this site. Very easy to add an avatar without having to use re-sizing software; very easy to post a video and it shows in the body of the message, etc etc etc just hope we don't have any group buys here that will shut down the site for 24-48 hours!

Sounds like you are familiar with the aroma of Bullshit and call it like you see it? LOL

Make sure to post some pics of the new toy when it arrives.

Absolutely will post pics. I actually live about 15 miles from the Yamaha factory, but have to drive 60 miles to the dealership to pick it up, then will have to drive back by the lake on the way home. I don't know if I'll be able to get it home without stopping to put it in the water.

That would be tough knowing that it's right over there. I'd be tempted to bring a BBQ and a chair and have a tailgate party just outside the fence while trying to catch a glimpse of it under construction. ;)

@primedoc Do you know if they have tours of the plant ever? Would be cool to check it out!

That would be awesome to do a tour and see your boat being built!

isnt it crazzy, just doing a search for boats and now 3 years later, second Yamaha.. :)

Dang...I would nonrev to Vonore to do a tour...that is probably a 3 leg trip, plus a car rental and 2 hour drive at least! But I would do it. Love the avatar and looks like the mrs. liked the pontoon...It is a consideration you know...I don't care if it will get good cruise economy and have a cabin on it besides lounge area! But I need A/C in texas...at anchor!

Literally 30 minutes from the parking garage at TYS to the front gate of the factory. Tours are very hard to come by. My dealer in Knoxville says that he can't get one! I do know several employees and have a guy on the inside who has been trying to get me a tour, but no dice so far. I went to lunch Friday and some of the Yamaha "brass" came in and it was VERY difficult not to approach them and ask / beg for a tour!! LOL

P.S. I have a patient who is "involved" (don't want to give enough to identify her) in ordering every single item and component used / installed on our boats in the manufacturing process. She says that Yamaha is getting ready to produce a fishing boat and a cabin cruiser within the next 3 years.

did you by from Alcoa Good Times or Premier?

Alcoa Good Times is out of the boat business. Premier is the only local dealer now. This is their first year, very nice guys and generally very knowledgeable but that explains some of the confusion when ordering my boat. Most of the confusion was, however, my fault.

I knew they sucked at their boat service but i didnt know they were out totally. They were at the boat show last year with a few boats. I purchased from Anderson Marine in Nashville. Great guys there.
Will you be at the knoxville boat show this weekend? I will be there Saturday afternoon sometime if so

I plan on trying to be there. I will be in Nashville Thr-Fri for a conference and am supposed to be at a talk in Knoxville Sat. Thought about ditching the Sat thing, not sure yet. May try to go to that in the AM and then hit the boat show after lunch.

Great story, we had a similar experience. I grew up around boats but my wife was a tough sell. A few years ago my wife and I along with our youngest son were invited out on a friend's boat for a quick evening cruise. As soon as my wife saw the smile on his face she was sold. We started with an old Bayliner but quickly discovered it couldn't meet our needs. Last year we bought our AR210 and we love it.
