So I have installed ProMariner ProSport HD12 12 Amp Dual-bank battery charger on my new 2020 195S. I mounted it onto the Star Board panel facing the engine bay in the rear starboard side locker and routed the charging cables in a plastic channel tube across the front of the engine bay and into the battery area of the port side rear locker. I currently only have the single battery that came with the boat and the the ProSportHD user manual seems to contradict itself on how I should connect this charger to my battery! My two questions here are below:

1.) The ProSportHD12 charger manual only shows diagrams on how to use the charger with 2 or 3 batter setups. It states that all leads must be connected/terminated for the charger to work, and if you have more leads than batteries then to double them up on the highest capacity battery. The thing that seems to contradict this is that there is one set of leads that you are supposed to ensure are connected to your starter battery. So since I have a single battery, do I double up the leads and put both on my starter battery, even though there is a special set of leads that go that battery?

2.) I bought a dual bank charger since I plan to add a second battery this winter and wire in an ACR system. Since my current battery is new and a Lead-Acid type, I plan to add a second battery of this same chemistry to use as a house. I'll be adding an amplifier for the existing Wet Sounds speakers and will be adding two 6.5 or 8" tower speakers, so nothing crazy wattage-wise. What group size battery is recommended for a house that will still fit nicely next to the existing starting battery. My plan is to install this battery next to the starter battery, inside of a battery box and secure it with a snap style strap around the existing battery so it doesn't slide.

Any guidance is appreciated. As far as use, I wouldn't be running the stereo for more than 3 or 4 hrs at a time max when the boat isn't running.

Double it up on your starter battery. I have a three bank ProMariner charger and two batteries. Running this way for several years now and haven’t the trigger on the third battery yet.

If the manufacturer shows to double up then sounds like it's supported. I bought 3 battery charger and just left 3rd one disconnected until spring when I bought new home battery pair. I saw no use buying batteries to sit all winter doing nothing but charge. I left marine starter battery on my starter charger connection but went with two deep cycle batteries for all the home power needs.

I just added a 3rd battery mid season. I'm running the pro20+ charger. I have one group 24 Interstate wet cell starter and two Interstate group 24 wet cell deep cycles. I was running on one group 24 house previously, running m800 and a wetsounds micro4 amp(500w+) for 4-5 hours at a mid level volume with no problem but I decided to add the 2nd house to reduce the wear on the house battery due to the amount if time running at anchor.
