Boaters, We bought a 242 Limited E at towards the end of last season. We trailered it around but this year have a slip. It’s at Lake Winnipesaukee, NH. I have a couple questions for you seasoned guys:

We put the Bimini top on yesterday and decided to leave it on but reduced the tension a bit while in the slip. I saw another guy did the same with his 242 in our marina. Is this a good practice?

I shut the batteries off when we left. I seem to remember somebody recommending to leave the batteries on and the auto bilge on as well. Our boat has the solar trickle chargers so I think we’d be good.

Last, how do we turn on or know the auto bilge is on when the key is out.

These may be basic to some, but this is the first time we’re keeping a boat in the water for the season.

Thanks in advance.

Ed

Hey welcome aboard @PPKap Winni is a great lake to boat. plenty of boat to locations.

You didn't mention if your slip has shore power or not but if you're solar trickle charging I'd assume not. To test your bilge pump you can dump 5 gallons or so of water into the engine compartment. that should cause the bulge pump to do its thing.

With regard to keeping your mooring cover a little loose. Make sure your anti pooling poles will create a positive slope for a heavy rain to run off easily. If you don't you may be inadvertently testing your bilge pump.

If you ever decide to trailer to Cape Cod sometime look me up. We have some amazing places to boat to.

It’s the Bimini top I’m referring to. I do have the anti pooling poles under the mooring cover.

There is shore power at the slip, however the plug is not compatible.

Thanks Gym

My marina has a rule...all bimini tops must be lowered when slipped. Apparently they act like a sail on windy days and push the boats and docks around.
I'd find an adapter for your shore power!
It's there...I'd find a way to use it.
