Hi Folks, I've just recently bought a Tango Super Sport. It's an '07 model with the 240HP Mercury engine. I don't know anything about these and have no service history or run time details / log data for the boat.

Is there a service schedule for these boats, the motors, steering system or the jet drive units ? I guess there isn't much else to them really (?) but would like to know what I need to do and how often I need to do it to take care of the boat properly.

Any advice would be appreciated. Currently my instruments - fuel gauge, tacho and speedo only work intermittently. Suggestions on how to troubleshoot this would be great, thanks.

Cheers fellas

Maybe @Bilmon can help with the Sugar Sand questions.

If your gauges work intermittently all at the same time I would look for a grounding issue. Chances are they all use the same ground wire.

Oh ok thank you. That's a good tip.

Q - does anyone know what type of kill switch these boats have, is it active-open or active-closed ? Mine doesn't appear to work either

Same issue with my 05 Tango. The tach works if going above 3000 RPM and the speedo worked when it wanted to. Replaced the speedo with a GPS unit and I would suggest the same. Works better than I imagined. I don't worry about the tach as it works at higher speeds. Gas guage works well, but if it didn't, I would just watch the gas level in the tank manually until I traced the issue.

Here is a "rockstar" document on servicing any of the Merc SportJets. It was shared on the SeaDoo Forum years ago and I used this procedure on my SeaDoo X20. Of course, we had the same exact 240EFI as you do, so it applies to you as well.

Enjoy!
