Removing seat backs?

I am wanting to add tower speakers to my 242 limited e. How would I go about removing the padding along the side that is below the tower to give me better access there? Also, any tricks to running speaker cables up there. I assume the speakers need to be on the front bar of the arch so the wires run down the front portion of the tower allowing lowering of it.
