Going go out for boat ride on rend lake this weekend. Anybody know the water temperature?

Please let me know how long it takes to get down there. Where do you launch?

Hi Jim @buckbuck
It is about 5 hour drive without stops from Chicago, They have several boat launches around the lake, I usually launch at south west corner. There is a launch box with like a $5 fee. I always get the annual pass at the conservation center $25 and just hang on the rear view mirror each time. Their is a marina near the SW launch which you can rent a slip at or pickup item if needed.

Rend lake also has a resort on the water, that if you stay at the resort they will allow you to rent a slip. Very nice restaurant and bar at the resort, but we have never stayed at the resort. My mother in law lives 40 minutes from the lake.

I know their is a lot of camping around the lake, many on the water, but to my knowledge none of the campsites a beach you could pull the boat onto. Would have to anchor boat off the rocky shoreline.

Hope to see you soon Jim. bringing boat back this weekend to get the automated ballast installed.
