Replace Radio in 2012 SX210

I need to replace the radio on my boat. I bought a new one but have not yet looked at removing/installing. The one in there now is not the original, I am sure. Mine has a DIN slot at the captains helm. It has a weather cover over it that slides up/down but it seems like it is very loose so maybe that needs replaced too. I am not yet sure.

I have not done a radio in a boat before but have done many cars. What is typical to expect? For example, is there a wiring harness coming out of the boat and is there an adapter for it like in cars? Does the metal sleeve mount into the DIN hole and then the radio slides into that sleeve like a car or is it different? Same kind of question about the weather protecting face thing.

I do not have my boat at my house, otherwise I would have looked myself already.

Anyone? I am trying to make sure that I have all I need when I go to replace the radio so the wiring harness and physical install are my biggest questions. I have not found any videos or pictures online, which surprises me since most other things are lol.

I did mine in my old 2011 sx210 (different model year) I installed a smaller fusion and made a new faceplate (used this to cut then replaced with color matched one later) to “close in the opening”

there isn’t/wasn’t a sleeve, just the opening and metal support bracket. The attached to back of stereo. Hard to see here (maybe already removed it)

I didn’t use a harness, just cut spliced the wires.

I installed the new radio this weekend. A few things surprised me.

First, I saw some wires behind the dash that look like it may have had other audio gear in it before me. I saw some rca signal cables and some other large circle connector cable. I have no idea where they go. Any ideas where these cables go from behind the dash?

The speaker wires really confused me. They were definitely not a standard color. I could not make sense of it so I followed the way the old radio was connected to the speakers. I am not 100% sure if the front/rear and left/right were correct on the old one so my mistake for not testing first. So the new radio is playing. Still need to sort out the speakers somehow hopefully. Who makes one purple wire and one black wire for a pair of speaker wires? What a pain.

I did test and found that the radio power is run on the same power wire as the helm gauges/switches. I wish the radio were separate but I have no idea how to run a power wire to the battery on this boat.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this wiring?

How did you get access to the back of the radio? I don't see a way unless you go thru the starboard side bow storage area.

The backrest on the bow starboard seat comes out. If I recall you grab from the bottom and pull upward and outward.
