Replace stuff on Scarab blog (extended version).

So for those of you that have an older Scarab in the deep hott south. You will already know that the swim platform's mat on the Scarab is complete doodoo.

In the heat, it shrinks, gets discolored, and starts to peel off on the edges. Especially if you just have the standard mooring covers. This is another good reason to buy a trailering cover for these boats.

I decided to contact @JetBoatPilot , and purchase a proper seadek mat. He did an incredible job on the design. It will be a couple weeks till its shipped, and I have a ton of upgrades to complete on this boat this year. Ill blog them as I go.



This junk is cheap feeling, and stinks when you take it off.

It was around 4 and some change. But @JetBoatPilot has some specials on these. Thats when I woud buy it, but I had enough of mine looking like it did. The logo is separate, and if you want to use a brand logo, you have to get written permission from that manufacturer.

Pardon my but it seems like Scarab just use the same Seadek brand that everyone else uses...I do love the beetle logo on the mat

No, this is definitely not seadek or hydromat. Scarab uses, especially on the older boats a cheap oem mat material. I can't remember what the name of the brand is, but Will knows.

We could've got you a new updated version for the entire boat for that money. Even your local dealer could have done that for you.
I can offer you some tips for installing that will help your mat last as long as the boat, unless you've already installed the mat.

I appreciate that @Ron@Scarab. But I wanted to have my own design, and also wanted to give back to a vendor that supports our community.

I havent installed it yet, but I'm handy with my hands.

I have the same crappy aquatrac on my Glastron GTS 207. Stuffs really hard and extremely hot on your feet and terrible to keep clean. I'm gonna be replacing mine with Marine Mat because seadek doesn't have a template for my boat. @ScarabMike was it tough to get the glue off?

It wasnt hard really, but it was time consuming. TIP# be patient, and know you are going to scratch the shit out of that area. There is no way around it. Just try your best to keep them under the mat area.

And yea, the stock mats are horrid. You can fry an egg on them in the heat, they get dirty fast, and are almost impossible to clean.

The Marine Mat "snap it" series is badass for the cockpit. Best of both worlds. I may do that for the inside.

Yeah for sure. I definitely would have done it but they don't have a template for my boat. I'm getting the swim platforms and walk through for $279 so I thought that was a good price.

This was just posted to me today by Scarab. It is on our Facebook page as well. I do agree that the Glastron mats are the worst and 1st Gen Scarab's mats. I have been adding (Installing) these SeaMats brand to various boats and I can tell you that they are of high quality and easy to clean with just soap and water. In our deal jackets, there is a brochure from the company for any issues and care responsibility for the customer.

@Ron@Scarab how's come nobody is making these for the glastron line? Considering they both come out of the same factory. Marine mat was the only company I could find that had the templates for my swim platforms and walkthrough.
