Ok, I'm having a hard time grasping or even coming close to understanding the drainage system in my 15 Yamaha Limited S. This boat has 4 plugs and a scupper drain. The scupper drain (should) drain the main deck directly out the back. The ski locker drains down into the hull. Now comes the fun part. The bilge area... So this area has two plugs, 1 from the fuel tank bay that will drain into the bilge and the other will drain the bilge into the hull. The other plug is on the hull drain plug on the back keel.
I bought this boat off the show room floor. It has always had the hull plug in the bilge area left loose. I always knew where the bilge pump was in the engine compartment, but always thought that there was a second one in the hull. Why? My bilge always pisses out water about 3-5 times while trotting up and down the river. (about 2-4hrs) I never really seen water in the bilge, therefor always thought the hull bilge was doing its job. Now I know that its just the one bilge.
Here is the riddle. WHERE THE HELL IS THE WATER COMING FROM??
The scupper tube is secured, so there shouldn't be water getting into the bilge from there. The logical answer would be the water is coming up from the hull plug up into the bilge. But how is the water getting into the hull? And if the bilge hull plug is in, how does water get into the bilge? I keep the boat moored at the marina. Ive had it out of the water this past week after having a related issue https://jetboaters.net/threads/15-limited-s-problem.14774/#post-255424
Is it possible that I have a leaky hull? Im going to put the bilge hull plug in and run it up and down the river sometime this week then take it back to the ramp and pull the hull drain and see how much water comes out. In my mind there is leak somewhere. I hope this makes sense, because it sure doesn't to me.
