What.. should be the top end RPM for my boat. Generally speaking that is?

At full throttle my Starboard seems to max out at 8500 and the Port 8000. BTW - what should my max be? I probably can't quantify the next statement but I suspect the Starboard is always a little higher. I just figure that one lever is slightly out of manual hand sync than the other. :) Doubt it's the plugs as I put in all brand new NGK Iridium IX CR9EIX at the beginning of the season. Is this just normal with dual controls w/o perhaps the @JetBoatPilot throttle sync?

Secondly - I pulled my first wakeboarder / skiier / kneeboarder. It was darn near impossible to keep at the same speed. I was constantly trying to adjust. I understand the whole getting outside the wake and cutting into the water will add more resistance but even straight pulling seemed to fluctuate. Is this also just a normal symptom of jet boat w/o perfect pass or something like that?

That is just a normal part of towing skiers/boarders regardless of your propulsion type. PerfectPass or similar system (like Yamaha Drive Control) is AWESOME! I love the drive control because not only does it hold a speed, but it has 3 automated acceleration curves too. So all you do is flip the throttle forward and the boat auto accelerates and goes to the target speed. No more driver error! (unless the driver forgets to engage drive control...and you are wakeboarding at 30+mph....which happened to me this weekend....I just let go)

Thanks @Julian that's what I figured. What about the previous question around max RPM. I should have noted the RPM variance was w/o towing anything. Just hammered down across the lake.

I've not looked at the RPMs on my boat as I've been limiting any max RPM until I get closer to 20 hours on the boat. My SX230 didn't have the issue you describe, but it also had analog gauges....so I wonder if this is a factor of being able to see the digital RPM? I do know that each impeller is pitched differently because of the way the pumps load and the impeller rotation....so I'd expect there to be some difference in the max RPM. I'll have to try this next time I'm out! (will also have to remember to turn of "Single Lever")
