Posting this issue in hopes of someone smarter than me may be able to answer and help me out. I took the boat out a couple months ago in salt water, came back and flushed the motor and jet nozzles with salt terminator. However I got cheap and only flushed the trailer tires/wheels with regular hose water. A week later I see surface rust. Now I jacked up the trailer on stands to see how the tires rotate and the back ones both sides are not freely rotating. The front ones aren't showing rust and rotating freely but both back ones are sticky.

Question :- do I need to worry here or a little surface rust wont be an issue? The tires definitely aren't rotating freely. Is that a problem? I don't boat in salt often just once a month during season. Do I need to remove the wheels and brush this corrosion?? Anyone have this issue. This boat is 2018 so everything is b rand new.

Thanks in advance guys!

So are you saying your brakes are dragging?

Seems like it. But the trailer isn't connected to anything so they shouldn't. I thought the rust is causing an uneven surface and therefore rubbing against the brake pad. The tire rotates but not freely.

Well the thing you want to be careful of is the caliper sticking if it locks up it can cause issues serious ones. Try towing the boat a little and see if the brakes loosen up. I use never seize where the caliper moves back and forth just a very small amount so that won't happen I clean the metal first to get rid of any rust. .

No problem

Good timing. I just delt with this on Saturday. My brake pad broke free from the brake pad plate cause the left wheel to lock when rolling backwards. Lucky it wasn’t forward at highway speeds.

I wouldn't worry about surface rust on the rotors but you may want to confirm it’s not the problem I was having. Check out the tire drag mark on the ground.

I’m going to include it in this weeks YouTube video.

Here’s a pic of the brake pad.
And yes, my white shirt stayed clean the entire time. Lol
