Rusting captains chairs

So im hvaing the rusting captains chairs problem. I really dont know how we didnt notice this earlier than now but we are stil covoered by our y.e.s warranty. I am wonderinbg if anyone got any help from yamaha out on this and if so what all nbeeds to be done to so. My father and i actually got to take the seat apart but one of the springs has acvtually broke in half because of the corossion. im so surprised this seat hasnt bork off yet the drivers side is also the same way. I am contacting my local dealership and through yamaha online as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem! Rust stains ruined the carpet and look horrible! Putting in new SeaDek and hate to see that get stained. I'll be watching for any good suggestions as well.

If looking to do it yourself, consider replacing the metal springs with nylon webbing for furniture. At least it won't rust.

What could be causing it ? Do you boat in salt water ? I guess if you had soaking wet shorts and sat in the seat over and over until the water permeated the cushion it could make it rust or sitting out in the rain . I did see others report this issue and think someone recieved a new seat under warranty. After seeing this I sprayed mine with liquid film to help protect them .
